Hi all, I'm a newbie to the acer family and have recently purchased an NV7 black edition laptop. Im slowly getting the hang of windows 8 and am having some fun tailoring the laptop to my needs, but I 've run into a snag. I'd like to watch movies I have stored on a portable hard drive which is plugged into my laptop. So far so good, I can veiw them no problem on the laptop but ideally I'd like to send them to my tv. I have a yamaha RX-V677 av receicerwhich I've linked my laptop and tv to using hdmi cables. the trouble is that if I try to add the tv as a duplicate monitor it won't link up.

has anyone got any ideas ?

    Nice gear the RX-V677.

    so let me understand:

    Acer laptop--->hdmi cable---->RX-V677---->hdmi cable---->TV

    and if you press windows key logo + p

    choose duplicate

    you can't send signal to TV?

    if you instead press Fn+F5

    are you able to see any image on TV, if not press again Fn+F5 to turn back to laptop screen

    have you checked if RX or TV is recognised?

    right click on desktop, choose screen resolution

    do you see 2 screens or just one?

    I'm not an Acer employee.
