iconia w4 820 difficult connection

i have an acer iconia w4 820  it is very difficult to connect through wifi sometimes, it cannot even detect the networks available around it.

First thing is to determine if it is the router or the tablet. Does the Wifi show up well on other devices, does the W4 have troubles with other hotspots? If it's the router that's the biggest part of the problem there's not much we can suggest other than power cycling it on occasion. If it's the W4 we'll want to know if it's still in warranty or a 'fix it yourself' type scenario...
