I have a 64GB ssd. I had to do a complete recovery using the USB recovery. The drive split into two partitions of approx 27GB. It didnt give any other option.

> It set up  a small recovery partition, a hidden partition, partition C: has the operating system, software etc. leaving only about *8GB free space. Drive D: is empty with 27GB free space.

I want to reduce or eliminate D: to give me max space on C.  Partition magic seems to work but Windows 8 blocks to final move. I tried using WIN 8 drive management but it was also blocked.

Any ideas would be helpful

You should be able to do it natively in Disk Manager. Just delete extra volume and expand the C partition.
