x223w monitor blacks out then comes right back on

My x223w monitor keeps blacking out then comes right back on.  I had'nt had any problems with it before the last few months.  It was purchased 16 November, 2009 so the warranty is long over.  Does it need a new driver or what?  I cannot afford another one right now so hopefully you can help...

    Hello,

Have you tried with another external monitor or a LCD TV?

What's the led color when the screen not displayed?

We have only one LCD TV in the livingroom and my husband is very much against hooking anything up to it and I don't have any other monitor to try it on.  The power light on the monitor remains blue, it does not go out when this happens (that is what you were asking about right?).

    A stupid question:

Have you checked the plugs behind the monitor?

    Completely blue or normal display?

Yes, Laurant, I checked the plugs on the back of the monitor, I checked the plugs on the other end as well, all nice and tight.  The power light stays on, no interruption.  It has only been blue when in use (isn't it suppose to be?), the only time it is anything else is when I am turning the monitor on, then it is yellow until the computer engages and it turns blue.  It turns yellow when the computer shuts itself down and I then turn off the monitor.  I have been using a computer for almost 14 years and have gone throught 5 monitors, this is my first Acer.  The other monitors didn't do this, but it would seem that monitors are not meant to last are they...

    Hello,

No problem about my name. Smiley Happy

Have you checked in the Device Manager if you have a mark (!) on Display adapters or Monitors?

Dear Laurent,  I did check in Device Manager and there are no (!) and the drivers are up to date.  It may not be the monitor but I had to eliminate the possibilities.  I already have a query in to the HP people about this problem but they seem to be "running through mud" as it were in coming up with any kind of viable solutions.  The one they came up with was for when I was logging in or booting the hard drive, but this happens in the middle of browsing or during online game play.  I appreciate your patience with this old grandma, I always learn a lot from y'all, probably more than I ought to.  Any other suggestions (besides maybe a new monitor...)?

    Thank you m'dear,  Gene

Do you have the opportunity to borrow a monitor from a friend?

I have a doubt on the graphic board.

Dear Laurent,  On a whim I checked out the graphics card on Device Manager and it stated that the driver was up to date.  Now that might not mean there isn't something wrong with it but if there was a problem would it show up there?  I'm afraid that after 15 years of living in this tiny little town I don't really know anyone who would loan me monitor.  My children live in another city and I just don't have any options as far as a monitor goes, too bad we couldn't hook it up to a regular TV, sorry...any other suggestions?  Seems like I'm at an impasse with this so...hope you are not throwing your hands up with disgust at the limits we have to work with.  Well, you never know.

    Thank you,

    Gene Gore

Dear Laurent,  I sorry we could not 'fix' whatever is happening to my computer/monitor but I have enjoyed and appreciated your counsel and suggestions.  What would this world be without a little humor and honesty.  'C'est la vie' as they say in France, too bad you are not my 'pen pal'.

Thank you for everything mon ami,
