Touchpad not working - tried suggested advice to no avail

Hi

I have an Aspire E5-521 with Windows 8.1 64-bit and the touchpad was working fine until yesterday. Now it doesn't seem to register me using itat all.
I've plugged a USB mouse in and now I have a cursor and can use that but I prefer the touchpad.

I have reinstalled the driver from the Acer support page and that hasn't worked (it said it had installed correctly and the wizard finished hence I don;t know if I need to do anything else?

I've checked in the settings and where it says Mouse and Touchpad, it only has mouse info on the left of the pane, where it should have touchpad settings, there is nothing.

I've tried the function+F7 switch and that doesn;t solve it, touchpad is 'active' and no cursor/response.

Please can someone advise if there's something I'm missing? As I say, it was working fine until yesterday and I've not downloaded anything recently other than AVG but that was a couplf of weeks ago.

Thanks very much

Dave

    Blokeyfella,

It seems odd that it would just stop working, did your system peform Windows updates recently? I would suggest that you perform a system restore to when  the touchpad worked without any issues to see if that fixes it, it's probably something simple like an update messed something up.

If you didn't perform any updates, you can download the drivers from the support site, uninstall the currently installed drivers, then reinstall the drivers you downloaded to see if that resolves it.
