Ok, so whenever I restart my laptop, the touch pad scroll function stops working, so I can't slide my finger down the side to scroll up and down on the page. I also can't swipe from the sides to get to the menus, though I seldom use that function. I have tried updating the drivers and it says they are all up to date.
In trying to figure out how to fix it, I discovered that if I go into Mouse Properties through the Control Panel, go to the Hardware tab, click on Properties, going to the Driver tab and clicking Driver Details, then close all these windows, something loads quickly and the scroll and swipe functions work--until the next reboot. (Going into the ELAN properties through the Device Manager doesn't work--it has to be through the Control Panel.)
This problem has occurred ever since I bought the laptop a few years ago, but I am looking to give it to someone else and figured I would try to fix this before explaining this ridiculous process to my friend.
Is there a specific driver or something else I need to fix this problem?
