Hello All I am new on this forum so I hope the post goes to the right Place.

I have an Acer A500 tablet It does connect to my wndows 8.1 laptop via USB,

I can see it in File explorer I can even see the folders in the A500.

I am trying now to learn android developement and I want to use this tablet as

a test device.I can not communicate to the tablet from android development

steudio.

I noticed in the windows device manager that the icon for the tablet is

yellow and the driver is not installed.

I downloaded the only driver I found

in Acer down load page I ran the executable file but still the driver is not

installed and not found when I try find driver on PC. Anyone know a way

I can get a driver installed?

Thanks ALL

Harry

I don't think they have released a driver for Windows 8 or 8.1. Try installing the Windows 7 driver in copmpatibility mode to see if that will work.

you need the ADB driver to let the android developement communicate with the A500, remember that you need to enable the USB debugging option in the A500.

with android developement enviroment, you were able to download some google USB/ADB drivers and you must install them manually from windows device manager.

Thank you for responding, I did some reading regarding this driver. I learned that it was downloaded with

the android sdk extra under sdk manager, I found the path to the usb driver folder. I had to copy it to

a temp folder because the device manager file browser cant see %appdata% folder. But I have no idea

what file to try install. Any pointers on this?

    Thanks

ONce you enabled the USB debugging on your A500, connect it to your pc, then go to the Device manager and check for an yelow exclamation mark (if you have more than one, you must double click it, choose the details tab and look for the hardwareIDs string, copy it and search on google).

once you are sure about the exclamation mark that need the ADB drivers, double click the exclamation mark and choose to install drivers, choose to do it manually, choose have a disk, go to the ADB drivers path and select the google ADB driver, apply and ok.

I thank you for you help in this I tried many ways to install the driver but in windows 8.1 I do not see some

of the options I once say in say windows XP. I normaly do not have a proplem doing this type of action.

I double click on the yellow icon and I do get the driver window, I can uninstall I can disable, enable

and I can do update but not install. So I do update, I choose manual point to the folder usb_driver.

I have some folders here so I choose i386, and select next. Windows returns error windows could not find

driver software for your device. Note there is no option for have disk. I did some reading today trying to

figure it out but not getting anywhere. But I do thak you for your help I may just use the emulator for now.

    Thanks

    Harry

update driver/browse my computer for driver software/let me pick from a list..../have a disk (if on the list doesn't appear any Google ADB driver)
