Removal of E1-731 Keyboard Assembly

Greetings:

I recently got a used Acer E1-731 off e bay and want to replace the keyboard.  I have started to take it apart, but have only gotten to part where the top cover assembly (with keyboard intact), separates from the bottom cover, but it only separates by an inch or so.  I can see the keyboard ribbon and two other cables, and I believe I can pull the cables from the sockets, but am afraid of the reassemble as it is a tight fit.  So my question is, can you separate just the keyboard and its cover from the top assembly to get access to those ribbons?  If so, how do I remove the keyboard and its cover?  I see that the cover fits recessed into the top assembly and that it is not integrated, but I am afraid of marring it (with a screw driver, etc.) as there is not enough play between the seams of the keyboard cover and the top assembly. Please help Thanks.

PS-I have seen assembly videos of of similar Acer laptops, i.e., V3 series, but construction is totally different.
