B 1-710 not charging.

I have an Zcer B1-710 which grandchild uses. This evening it quit charging. The power cord will not stay in the port and it appears that the port has been pushed baxk into the tablet itself. It was dropped earlier and the power cord was bent, but I have a second cord for it. It was charging, then quit. Any suggestions- we are in the midst of a snow/sleet storm.

Probably not going to be able to help fast enough to get you up and running again during the storm. Smiley Sad

It sounds as if the power socket might have come loose from it's mount on the motherboard. It could easily have cracked when it was dropped, then loosened the rest of the way over time as the power was plugged in. Unfortunately the USB connector is soldered directly to the motherboard, so a repair is likely to involve a motherboard replacement, and that's not likely cost effective. If you happen to be the 'fix it anyway' type and have mad soldering skillz you could pull the tablet apart and either figure out a way to repair the existing broken port or find a replacement connector. I'm guessing you are more likely to be looking for a replacement tablet... The Iconia One 7 is the current model that matches the B1-710 pretty closely, except newer and faster (and for a little more, higher resolution too). Smiley Happy

Thanks for your reply. I was able to get it to charge - but I have to bend the charger down slightly and put something heavy on it. Which re-enforces my belief that the port is out of place. Having looked at videos detailing how to take the tablet apart - I think I can remove the back and check the location. I can solder, but don't claim to be an expert. Thank you again. Looks like a new tablet sometime in the future.
