I have an acer aspire V5 with touch screen.  It is running Windows 8.

Fior the last two days it will not connect to wi-fi.

It detetcts wi-fi but says that it cannot connect.

I have tried connecting to both my home wi-fi and my iPhone hotspot.  It detects both but says it cannot connect.

My husband's mac and both his Samsung phone and my iPhone are connecting to the home wi-fi without issue.

The laptop is approx one year old and I have not encountered this issue with it before.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

    majella500,

Here are a couple things you can try to see if it resolves the problem:

Uninstall and reinstall the wireless driver, then restart your system.

Perform a system restore to before you started having this issues, it could have been an update of some kind that is causing the issue.

Perform a refresh to see if it might be a corrupted operating system file.

I had this problem for about two months, limited connection and weak wifi signal.
I have an Acer Aspire 5-735p... after trying multiple methods and reinstallin houndred driver options i just updated my win 8 to 8.1 and automaticly the microsoft installed the wifi driver (Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Ver. 3.0.1.155).

My latest driver version was the latest one 10.0.0.298 ) but it doesnt worked even if it was up to date , so i would sugesst that anyone with wifi problems on V5 series should urgently find this wifi driver Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Ver. (3.0.1.155).

After sufering and not getting help from acer live support cuz they're lame and all they want is charging off people i desided to post this... soo this solution totally works, go update to win 8.1 or find this wifi driver urgently somewhere in google (( 3.0.1.155 )) .. (Another thing that i did it was switching black and white wifi cables inside my laptop.)
Hope this solution get's on top Smiley Happy
