My 2 year old Iconia W700 will not boot. Error message is "no bootable device". The BIOS lists HDDO model Name: SandForce(200026BB) HDDO serial number:1

I have tried reseting the BIOS to factory default but thet doesnt work either.

Tried to boot from CD but get an error there too "security will not allow boot"

Please advise.

Thanks

Please try the below mentioned steps :

Under Set Supervisor Password, tap Enter.
Create a password and press Enter. Retype the password to confirm and press Enter again.
Tap on the Boot tab. Below Secure Boot, change the setting from Enabled to Disabled.
Save your settings by selecting Exit and tapping on Exit Saving Changes.

Table corruption may cause the error message, No bootable device -- Please restart system. This may appear on notebooks with solid state drives (SSD) after an unplanned shutdown.

    Resolution

This can be corrected using the following steps:

    1. Power on the computer and press F2 to enter the BIOS.
    2. Leave the system idle in the BIOS for 10 minutes.
    3. After 10 minutes, press F10 and select Yes to save and exit.

Precaution Do NOT press the power button to exit the CMOS.

Once the tables are synchronized, the computer should boot properly.

Let us know if that works, there are other things that can corrupt a Windows boot...

I am using the Acer USB System Recovery Drive but the install hangs. cmd.exe executes but hangs at "Disk 0 is now the selected disk"

I also have the same problem of to completely restore Iconia W700 to factory defaults. I followed the steps told by you. All Went well as per your guidance. But once reaches Recovery Management window, every time it asks to cahange DVD mode from UEFI to Legacy or if it is changed to legacy it asks to change in UEFI.

You need to delete partitions from HDD/SSD or the eRecovery will start this "dance" between UEFI and Legacy.

try to create a bootable USB flash media with partition wizard:

    http://www.partitionwizard.com/partition-wizard-bootable-cd.html

    then delete all partitions:

The solution 'partitionwizard.com' you advised to delete partition did not work. I used http://gparted.org/download.php instead.

Rest it went fine. Thanks BRAVO.
