precision toucpad problem

Greetings

I have an acer aspire E15 551 model with an Acer Precision Touchpad that has been down right terrible to work with. I need help figuring out a way to deal with it. It's like the touchpad collects finger prints and thinks your still touching it. I've had it replaced once and within a couple days it was back to doing this so I can only assume it's a problem with either my pc in specific or with the design of the touchpad.  I noticed that when the mouse stops responding or refuses to accept tap clicks (for example trying to grab the scroll bar) if I wipe the touchpad off it'll start working again. However, by looking at the laptop there's nothing visable on it, just maybe a finger print or two, but no grime or anything else and I end up doing this every few minutes. It's starting to really get to me. Smiley Sad

Please look over this topic and see if it resolves your issues: Changing Windows 8.1 precision touchpad settings

Sorry for the really really late response. I've been very busy with college and haven't had much time.

It isn't the gestures that are throwing me off, but rather the touchpad becomes unresponsive. It just dies randomly, and it's not being toggled off. The problem with this model of the precision touchpad seems to be that once dust or finger prints collect on it, the touchpad becomes the most horrible thing to use. It's to the point that currently I'm using a usb mouse for the most part. There are no real options to adjust sensitivity or anything that might be able to overcome it if it were a sensitivity issue where it's registering the finger print (oils) or dirt as a touch. That's a problem. It's been replaced once for this issue, but it ust be in the model because within the day of receiving my product back it went straight back to failing.

I'm not sure why it would be having the same problem after a repair, that's really strange. I've sent you a PM regading this.

I have the same problem with the E5-511P.  The precision touchpad doesn't slide easily making my touch seem too heavy, therefore the pointer isn't reacting.  It would be nice if there was a sensitivity setting which I know there is not.  This lag in scrolling is very frustrating.  I had the Elan touchpad on my last Acer, that had absolutely no problems.  So far, not too thrilled with my current Acer.
