Aspire 5552 8GB RAM Upgrade

I own an Aspire 5552 that has 4GB of factory installed memory.  I recently purchased 8GB (2x4GB) of Corsair soDIMM Memory @ Frys.  When I installed the memory the laptop booted fine into Windows 7, but all my sysinfo shows that it is only recognizing 4GB of RAM.  I then rebooted F2 to get into the BIOS and I couldn't find any settings regarding RAM.  Can anyone advise me on how to get the laptop to recognize the full 8GB of memory? If it won't then I intend to return the memory.  Thanks!

    Hello Brandon,

What OS do you have exactly 32 or 64 bits?

    What's your exact laptop model?

It is an Acer Aspire Model 5552 x64 AMDPhenom II, with Windows 7 Home Premium edition.  When I installed the new memory everything worked, but it only registered 4GB of memory instead of 8GB.  I'm trying to find out it there is a physical limitation for this laptop to 4GB, or if there is a BIOS switch to let it recognize the newer memory.

  • Hello Brandon,

Do you have Windows 7 - 32 or 64 bits?

Could you give me the first ten characters of the serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.
