Upgrading screen on a V7

I just bought the V7-482PG-5642 off amazon the other day and it was mistakenly listed as a 5842. I would return it, but I cant seem to find a 5842 anywhere. So now I'm wondering if I can purchase the display used in the 5842 and put it into mine. The 2 laptops seem identical with the only exception being the screen resolution. I'd say screw it, but I really want the 1080p screen. I found this screen/digitizer combo, but it was a pretty roundabout route that took me there, so I was hoping for a confirmation that 1) It's possible and 2) That the screen I found would work. Thanks.

Your video card can probably handle it. You also have to replace the cable that goes to the motherboard because full HD has another wire. According to this page:

     http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Acer/ASPIRE~V7-482PG-5642/

Your screen is an LED backlit and doesn't use an inverter. You need to make sure that fits the new screen. Good luck.

When I compare the connectors for the 5642 and the 5842 on laptopscreen they look the same, and both say 30 pin LED socket. I'm by no means an expert, but that sounds to me like they're interchangeable. Also regarding the screen/digitizer combo I found, I'm just a little lost as to how I can find out if that would work on my computer. Is there a website with part numbers for these laptops? I could just search for the screen and digitizer from the 5842 using the part numbers. Lastly, the Amazon link is actually exactly where I bought this laptop. It's listed as a 5842 but they're actually 5642's. Thanks.

I doubt if Acer will give you a part number for a screen that is not available for your model. As far as I know there is not a website that has display interchange info.

The 30 pin socket is used by almost all laptop manufacturers.

The full HD is supposed to have one more wire than the HD.
