Battery % lies

My Acer TMB115M doesn’t tell me the truth about the % of battery (built-in): it suddenly shuts down at 30-40%, and when I plug it in starts charging from 1%, as if the battery was empty. So I never know when I am supposed to get the battery charger. Is there anything I can do? Or should I have it checked?

You can try shut down, remove power cord, find tiny hole in bottom and gently push with a paper clip until you feel it click, plug in and try.

In Device Manager/Batteries uninstall, delete software Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control etc. and reboot and try.

    Download Win 7?

Uninstall Power Manager in Programs and Features and install new download.

    Win 8.1?

Install Live Updater and see if it finds an update.

    Hi,

Thanks! I've tried both. I think there isn't any problem with the power cord (has always charged well) and I've already got the latest version of the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Smiley Sad I bought the laptop just 4 moths ago, it's a Windows 8.1. Any other idea?...

If you haven't done it, go to Device Manager, uninstall the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control,  reboot and let Windows reinstall it.

I wouldn't expect the battery to be bad in 4 months, but it could be defective. You can find the battery health and how much the last charge was  by going here:

Scroll down to the guide that starts with:1. Press Winkey+X and click the Command Prompt (Admin).  and run it.
