Using the external memory on my Liquid E600

Hi everyone,

Today I tried to transfer some apps from my internal memory (4 GB max and 589 MB available) to my external memory ( now a micro SD Card of 4 GB, but I am thinking of putting a 32 GB card in). To my surprise I could no do so, since that function was not available (greyed out) for almost every app that was pre-installed. What am I to do? Providing a memory increase by micro SD Card of 32 GB, and not be able to use it seems a bit strange is the least I can say. Did Acer forgot something, soma additional app or other functionallity?

I hear (read) all different things: protection of Google apps for privacy reasons, using additional apps to be able to move apps to sd card but first "rooting" your phone (whatever that is),....

Surely there must be a simpler way to manage this problem, without all that mumbo jumbo. I cannot believe that Acer would put a smartphone on the market with such a defect.

I am waiting impatiently for that simple solution.Smiley Sad

Google changed policy on app to SD, so the statement is correct.

notice that system applications (applications that you already found pre-installed) can't be moved since...they are system applications. Smiley Very Happy

that means that you can't access that folder due to permissions, so that's why you found some "talks" about rooting (that's not allowed to be talked on this board).

So, nothing wrong on your device.

    Hi Ironfly,

Thank you for your replySmiley Happy

I understand that Google made it impossible for apps to access folders or system applications for security reasons. Does that mean that all apps that are not system applications will be able to be moved to the SD Card? For instance all the apps that I will download myself from Google play? Because if not, I will still be stuck with my 32 GB micro SD Card that is useless; since it cannot serve as accessible extra memory. And an internal memory with a poor 589 MB memory free for future apps.

as far as i remember, you can move parts of downloaded applications to SD, but will be the smallest part.

so, in my opinion a 32GB SD is nearly useless.

    sorry
