Alright so I was recently given a Laptop and it seems as though it has a port for a Cd drive, as though it has one pre-built into it, but I cannot figure out how to open it, or if it is even there in the first place. The Laptop I have is an Aspire E 14, not sure about anything else as the moment. I would like to recieve some help if it is available, so please respond quickly, Thank you.

Doesn't have a DVD. It has a plastic Dummy plugging the hole. You can pull it out by removing a screw in the back, similar to this. You should see a SATA socket inside for a DVD, but you need the hold in bracket for the DVD.

As per the specifications there is no CD ROM drive listed, but you can check in the device manager though.
To check if there is a CD ROM drive, follow the steps mentioned below:
    1. Press Windows key and the letter "R" to bring up the run box
    2. Type in devmgmt.msc
    3. Hit "Enter"
    4. Check if you have DVD/CD ROM drives mentioned in your device manager

  • Hello bphilbrook12,

Could you give me the first ten characters of the serial number (S/N)?

You'll find it on the label sticked on the lower cover. Only the first ten.
