acer iconia w510udates

in 2014 Archives

have an acer iconia tablet w510.. won't update.. did a reset,was able to update about 100 updates. then did two acer updates. they said needed to restart,did do it but it froze,did another reset,not ii cannot et the update to work or even to schedule it..help

    OK first some of the updates, particulary the 400 mb one can take several hours to complete (why it needs to be plugged in and left alone until done. Sometimes it seems like forever but eventually comes back.

     

    Now does the machine boot to anything ? A Windows screen ? If so you may need to restore to the last restore point. Control Panel>System>Advanced System Settings>System Protection>System Restore.

     

    BTW before doing anything major, I always go to this page and at the bottom is Create. This will create a current restore point. You can have as many as you allow space (Configure).

     

    While at it you can also create a System Restore Disk (needs an 8GB flash) and a System Image Backup (needs a flash drive the same size as your main drive, most tabs are either 32GB or 64GB). There is a reason they cannot both be on the same drive.

     

    Highly recommended since most systems now have Windows 8.1 update and came with recovery disks for either Windows 8 or 8.1.
