Just to introduce myself. I own 4 working acer laptops all from new. Aspire 1350, 5920, 7720G and the awsome 8943G. I know some things about acer laptops as I’ve been an acer owner for many years but there are several things i know nothing about. Such as which battery is which for the 5920 and 7720G as both fit and look the same but one runs on 11.1v and the other 14.8v and I got them mixed up and to this day I have no idea which one is correct for either laptop. So if you know the answer to that, then I would be very grateful. . . . The 7720G is the most interesting as it was a complete disaster with unreliable graphics of which Acer knew about but continue to this day to deny any problems despite the fact that Nvidia publicly gave out a statement saying their range of 8400 chips were all faulty. Until my 7720G was upgraded with the better and more stable 9600 GT Nvidia the graphics on screen would switch on and off and flash vivid colours until the Blue Screen of Death appeared. Re-flashing the system bios with the acer bios was not the answer to accept the new upgraded 9600 GT GPU as it required additional graphics bios setting to be recognised ready for the correct Nvidia drivers but it was a nightmare to find the correct one and you only get one chance to get it right or your laptop will be rendered to toast and you will require a new motherboard unless you are good at repairing blown boards. Techpowerup.com provided the correct GPU bios so it can be done but you will need some savvy regarding DOS as it is only possible to do it this way and creating a start-up DOS USB and running the new GPU bios from there. Now the 7720G runs very quick and is as smooth and stable as it was originally intended by Acer. . As for the very old 1350. That was upgraded with 2GB of ram to speed up the old lappy still running on XP and despite the very small hard drive, it runs sweet as a nut. . . The 8943G is a mean machine in its own right for its now getting on age wise bought in 2010. Frame rates in games is still good but the overall laptop is stable and has good battery runtime of nearly 3 hours on balanced settings.
