Hi, I'm are user of ES1-111 which I'm trying to change the hdd to ssd. I have used the recovery method from the acer manual. I have backed up using a usb through the Acer Recovery Management. I have also ensured that i Copied contents from the recovery partition to the recovery drive. Using the recovery method to apply on the newly installed SSD but failed to proceed after running the recovery, hope you can assist. Thanks

    What's exactly your issue?

    can't boot USB recovery?

    errors on reinstalling on SSD?

remember that recovery media works only with empty SSD (no partitions, no format)

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Thanks Ironfly,  this is the process I have taken,  created a factory default backup (including copy the recovery partition);SSD is unallocated; PC shutdown fully; changed HDD to SSD; boot up with the thumb drive with the factory default backup; selection taken place -> requested to choose the language -> trouble shoot-> reset your PC -> screen shown - all your files +apps will be removed and pc setting will be changed back to factory default -> Yes, repartition the drive -> selected fully clean the drive -> PC starts process and until it reach "resetting your PC 45%"  => "there was a problem resetting your PC"

When back tothe main setup and selected "refresh your PC" and an error indicated "The drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlocate the drive and try again"; hope you can assist, many thanks

Ok, to unlocate the SSD again, you cn try Hiren's boot cd and choose gparted, unzip the package and burn the .iso to an USB pen:

or if you have a desktop, connect the SSD and with windows diskmanager erase all the partitions.

did you have other option apart "-> reset your PC" ?

open a command prompt in windows with administrator rights and type:

    1. diskpart
    2. list disk
    3. select disk 0/1/2... be sure to select the correct disk else u will end up wiping out the wrong volume.
    4. clean (thats all )

    or

    Try this free tool:

Really thanks again for your help but I'm still stuck with the process, I have redo the previous steps ( in fact few rounds) and the results are all the same... failed :-( . I can only think of using clonning for this  process but again I had an issue as my SSD is 120G but my HDD is 320G, I'm using Macrium reflect free edition which is no able to assist due to different capacity, hope I'm wrong and if you could advise me again or any other alternative. Thanks and regards,
