Hi all, I have my acer tablet purchased 3 weeks ago and experiencing the following problems:
- sometimes the display blink/flash (ones a time)
- sound via headphones is crinkly especially when the music is loud or there is quite in movie
- it rebooted itself about 20 times till now when I put it away (gentle)

Does anybody else experiencing the same? The firmware is latest and also tried to reset the settings but it doesn't solved the issue.

Fo sure not a normal behaviour, i would contact your seller or Acer support service for a warranty check.

Hey, I bought one of these yesterday and I am having 2 of the 3 problems you have: the flashing screen, and the crackling sounds on headphones (which becomes VERY loud when you visit the Wifi / Bluetooth setting screens).

The crackling noise happened with two different sets of earbuds, and it seems to 'activate every time there is supposed to be audio playing. Like, for instance, I would open TuneIn and start listening to a radio station, then it happened. And it keeps happening even if I turn the volume down to 0.

I'm not sure if I want to wait for the 20 resets in a row problem to happen. I'm going to return this thing as soon as possible, and I don't think I'll be getting a replacement of the same brand.

    Very disappointed in you Acer!

hello!! what do you mean by flashing screen? like it sometimes look like a blink for a second?

    Yes, exactly that.

Not that it matters now, because I exchanged the Iconia for a Samsung. But I still would like to know why this problem is happening to people that are clearly from different countries and bought from different batches of tablets. To me, it sounds like a design flaw.

In the meantime, I've started telling people I know to stay away from Acer products.

I'm having the same issues with my two day old tablet from Costco. The flashing on the screen is clearly a power failure or drain. Even when I'm not running any apps. Now I'm finding the light that shows charging doesn't work anymore and it powered off and would not turn back on. Had to hold volume and power for a long time for it to start up. Now when I plug in cable it gets really hot. Its a shame too, I dont have a lot of money and it really did seem like a nice tablet. Oh well, merry Christmas to me! =/

If you encounter those kind of issues, contact your seller or Acer support service, it's an hardware failure.

I am seeing two of these problems: flashing screen and rebooting.  I had one tablet for 5 days and returned it and got a replacement.  Both tablets show the same problems.

The flashing is like the screen brightens or dims for a fraction of a second.  The rebooting often happens when the screen is off.  If I am "lucky" I see the boot screens.  Otherwise I will notice that applications are gone from the "recent apps" list.  Also checking Settings->About Tablet->Status->UpTime will show how long since the last boot.

I have had this second tablet for a couple days and it has rebooted at least 4 times already and the flickering/flashing seems to be getting worse.

You might try uninstalling the apps you've added and testing for a coupl;e more days. If it's an issue with one of your apps you can reinstall them one at a time to see which is causing the weird behavior...

Just wanted to address your hunch that it's a design flaw - I can confirm that the 840 does have design flaws with regards to its sound system. I've found several, many of which have been replicated on multiple 840 tablets.

I also experience the crackling noise, through headphones. Turning off the Wi-Fi radio fixes it, but this isn't a solution to the problem - it just indicates that Acer went super cheap on the shielding inside the tablet and clealry no one tested the unit before it was officially released. The fact that this board is filled with people whose Wi-Fi isn't working properly only confirms that Acer is using cheap parts.

I know about the flashing. Its because of a bad battery. It happens to three different brands of tablets that I had. Two of them have terrible battery quality. The lasting one was Lenovo which has good products for cheap. But... Dont expect great customer service from them. They probably assume their devices would never get a problem and dont pay attention.

The crackling happens too, even without headphones, and I am unsure of the cause. The reboots are alo bad battery.

By the way when I say bad battery I mean it decalibrates and breaks in the sun.
