I have a brand new Acer Aspire/V%. I am having alot of wireless connectivity issues. What do I do

I have an Acer Aspire/V%..   I am having difficulty with keeping a wireless connection. I have a weak connection on the first floor of my house.  I can not acquire a connection when I am on the second floor.  Was able to do this with my previous laptop and have had my "computer fixit person" look at it.   It is not a router issue.    I have downloaded the latest LAN driver as some support forums have suggested.   Still having issues.   Is there a wireless card that resolves this issue available. Apparently this is a real and widespread problem with this new laptop.   Any other suggestions for a fix?  Thank you in advance.   diana
