Hi, my Aspire X3475 can't boot anymore, giving me the error message... "...The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information. You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media ( like a disc or usb device ) contact your system administrator or pc manufacturer...." My problem is that I don't have any disks or other medias with the recovery tools, so I wanted to create one, but I can't find anywhere on Acer's web site where to download what I need on that disk. Since my Desktop can't boot anymore, forget the idea of making one disk out of him! I tried the ALF F10 trick, and it keeps starting, saying something is wrong, and then reseting again.... for hours. I tried to boot a Windows 8 install disk, changing the BIOS so it will boot from the DVD first, but it doesn't. It seems to read the DVD but then goes into the page where it says the error message stated earlier, and reboots forever. Any help on what to do would help! Any help on WHERE to find the required Tools (I think it's called eRecovery, but not sure) so I can burn it on a disk, and boot with it, would help! Thanks Andre

Boot to BIOS (press F2 or DEL at boot), on BIOS disable secure boot option, then try to boot from DVD

    if it boots

    From the windows 8 DVD:

    a.     at  windows setup screen click on next

    b.    Click on Repair your computer.

    c.     Click on Troubleshoot and then select Advanced Options.

    d.    Click on Command prompt and type the following commands and press Enter after each command:

    Bootrec /fixmbr

    Bootrec /fixboot

    bootrec /scanos

    Bootrec /rebuildbcd

    e.    Restart the computer.

    f.      Check if the issue persists.

    NOPE!!!

The Secure boot is now disabled and it still doesn't boot from the DVD.

Now it doesn't go in a loop where it tries to repair. It goes to a page where it says:

"Boot configuration data file is missing some required information. File \BCD error: 0xc0000034"

And then it's asking for the the recoverymedias, that I don't have.

What would be the next step??

    Thanks

try to boot pressing F12 and select DVD as boot device.

Did any "press any key to boot from dvd" appears?

try to disconnect the HDD and see if it can boot from DVD, i'm try to narrow the issue.

    Hi,

the ALT F10 brings me to a black page with the 4 small blue squares of Windows in it, then the DVD spins and then a blue page

appears wit a error message that stays on for halp a second, so impossible to read.

Pressing F12, when booting, does give me the menu and when I select to boot from the DVD, it doesn't give me the "press any key..." usual message. Instead, after a few seconds, it gives me the light blue screen with the error message that I wrote in a previous post.

    Any other suggestions ???

    Thanks

    Andre

i suspect an HDD failure, that's why you have the BSOD.
