I'm having trouble upgrading from Vista to windows 7.

I have purchaced a legal copy of 32 bit windows 7 home premium, same version a Vista.

I tried the udate instal to preserve my programs & settings.

I got an error and system reverted back to Vista.

I then tried a boot, fresh install.

The windows disk loaded , but I ended up with Blue Screen of Death.

I have downloaded all the latest drivers for the the Extensa 4420 from Acer's site.

Is there a special version required for the 4420?

Don't know what to try next.

    Success!

I was able to perform the upgrade from Vista to windows 7 Sp1, with the ISO image downloaded from Digital River.

Since this was scuucessfull & not with orginal copy, I'm conlding the orginal disk was corrupt.

    The license key works.

if you can report what was written on BSOD, it will help a lot.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I am not sure the orginal disk was ok.

I've down loaded the win7 sp1 x86 english ISO image from Digital River & will try again this weekend.

I am trying to instal Win 7 on Extensa 4420. The DVD boots and the install starts but I get error message that I cannot install W7 to the c: drive because Acer has "reserved" that partition.

Where in the sales literature does it say that we are not allowed by Acer to install a new OS?

    I never had that problem.

NOTE: I removed all Acer's proprietary software first via control panel!

Most of it was indicated problematic by the window 7 compatibilty utility that I ran first.

I also downloaded all latest drivers & put them on D partition.
