Hi - looking for some help from you guys please

Got an acer 5742 running windows 7. All of a sudden the display has stopped working.

It boots fine and the display works up to the point of "starting windows". I see the windows logo for a bit then it goes off.

If I plug into an external display it works fine. In graphics properties, the display isnt even listed (only the external display shows up). Help please!!

    hi...

You may try to start your computer in safe mode by tapping the F8 when you start your computer.

If you are unable to login safe mode, connnect the external display > from the Start menu, type device manager in the search box and press Enter.

In the Device Manager window left click on the arrow next to "Display adapter", then right click on the display adapter name and uninstall it. thyen restart the computer to check if there is display after loading windows.

One thing you can do is go into safe mode. Once at desktop,

go to the search bar and type in MS CONFIG. Once you get in

there, you see a number of sub menus. Click on START UP

and unclick everything that you don't recognize. Make sure

you keep the programs that start with MS or Microsoft and

Acer start up programs. Then go to SERVICES and click the

box down at the bottom that states 'hide all Microsoft Services".

Then look at what's left over. I unclick everything not related

to MS in this sub menu. To be honest, I also unclick everything

in STARTUP except any Mirosoft programs. Click "apply", then "ok"

then "restart" and see if you can boot to desktop in reg mode.

You then need to run a good scan using Malwarebytes Free looking

for a virus. I use a number of programs that are free.

    Super Anti Spyware Free

    Malwarebytes Free

Combofix [Careful here. Thiis is like bleach to a PC]

    R Kill Free

    JRT.exe Free

    Kaspersky TDSS Killer Free

    MBAR.exe [Malwarebytes Anti-Root software-Beta. Free

and MS Security Essentails Free  for the anti-virus program,

No bugs in a very, very, very long time.

    Good luck
