TravelMate 5330 Just Stops Working

I have 2 TravelMate 5330 laptops and they both just stop working (actually crash without warning) when you're watching videos on YouTube or otherwise putting a load on them. The problem happens whether you're on battery or charging. I bought both at the same time so they are the same age and are configured the same way.  I wondered if it was the battery heating up (maybe they are old now) or something else. Does anyone have any advice? Don't really want to buy new batteries if that's not the problem. They charge fine and work off battery as expected. We noticed that if we elevate the back allowing more air under the unit then they seem to last longer between crashes, but they still crash when you've got sever tabs open and are watching videos or listening to iTunes, etc.

As it sounds like it is easily reproducable, I would ask that you attempt to repeat it, but on AC adapter only. 

Remove the battery from both systems.

 

Have you completed all Windows updates?

Have you updated or changed any hardware or software recently?
