Acer W510 - EHCI-Controller kills battery life in connected standby...

I noticed that my W510 has very inconsistent battery life when in standby. Sometimes it can last for weeks, sometimes both batteries would completely discharge in 2-3 days.

I did some troubleshooting with MS sleepstudy tool and found that the culprit is "Standard EHCI-compliant Host Controller" (which I assume is the USB controller). It often stays 100% active while the tablet is in sleep mode with no USB devices attached. This obviously kills the battery life. Any ideas how to resolve this?
