I installed a larger hard drive in the spring with no problems. Now all of a sudden parts of my Windows 7 Home Premium that came factory installed on my laptop has started to act up. Windows Live and all it's components won't work, Windows Update won't work and I keep getting pop-ups that the copy of Windows you have installed isn't genuine. I contacted Windows Support and got the reason that Acer has locked your computer from adding new hardware or something like that???? I'm really[edited to comply with guidelines]. I OWN the computer, I OWN the windows 7 software, so why can't I use it??? The Key on the bottom of the computer is still valid, it's the OEM  I.D. number that's blocked for some reason................HOW DO I CHANGE IT?

  • Back up your personal stuff. Put the windows cd in the drive and boot from it.Reinstall and if you have to do the phone support to activate. You probably won't hace to, but if you do when they ask how many computers say 0.
