Hi There, I just bought Acer W510 at Harvey Normal Mid Valley. Acer shop was closed due to renovation. I ask the sales people in Harvey Norman, they told me the keyboard is out of stock. So I thought if I bough the Acer W510 now, I could buy the dock seperately later. Now i just found out, I could not buy the keyboard dock seperately, please help me here is there anywhere anyway I could buy the keyboard dock only? Need solution and definite answer to this ASAP>

    Hi,

Yes you can - but not just yet. The Keyboard Dock Optional accessory should be available from February.

Hi there, called up acer malaysia they did say its around February too. hopefully stocks really arrive. i bet there are many users with the tablet only really feels the same way they need the tablet. so far i am loving this tablet so much. Its not as powerful as my HP i7 laptop which can do a lot of things, but still i can check my important email, do some light work on visio, outlook, words and excel, do some light gaming, watch youtube videos n movie, skype communication, remote desktop to my servers, facebook and many more things a windows user can enjoy.

by the way how will i know that the dock has arrived? will it be shown in Acer Malaysia's website?

    thanks and regards...

So how was it? Does it really work?

NP, iat the bottom, just treat it like a Windows PC because that is what it is. I originally bought the case/keyboard for my Viewsonic G-Tab and while the W510 is smaller, it fits well.

    rig

This was my initial test rig with GPS sender & Video input device. Hub has its own power supply. Know I bought the keyboard case from Amazon & was under $25.

Since then have been working mainly with Windows To Go. USB 2.0 slows it down a bit but still boots in under a minute from a Kingston WorkSpace drive even with BitLocker enabled. The next generation (Bay Trail) should have 3.0 but what I really need is the W510 in a 7" form factor like the iPad Mini.

Well that and the docking connector specs and pinout. For tablets to really catch on we need a standard docking configuration with sound/HDMI/USB & power. Standardize the I/O and let the aftermarket provide all of the peripherals - I have several track/touch pads and all have worked without a hitch.

HP900 has the right idea with a $99 dock/sleeve. My expected completion state has a single device per person with docks in family room, bedroom, office, cars,  and kitchen. Some will include peripherals (in office with keyboard, mouse, and 24"" monitor. Car has backup camera, real GPS, Bluetooth OBD-2, DVD, and "aux input". You get the idea but first we need a standard dock. (/rant)
