Can't install A181HL monitor driver for windows xp

I have a A181HL Acer monitor on a Windows XP machine and downloaded this driver. When I was following this procedure got to the last step but the system pops a "no better driver found" message, but the current driver is just a Plug and Play generic monitor and don't support the native resolution. I tried to look manually for a driver in the folder but there is just 4 files for Vista and 2 for Windows 7.

Don't know what to do. Help!

    at point 13 do this:

Select the Don’t search, I will choose the driver to install option, and then Next

    1. Click the Have Disk button, and then click the Browse button.
    2. Browse to the directory where you unzipped the file you downloaded
    3. choose A181HL.inf
    4. click open > OK > next > Finish

Ok, I did that and, although it gave a warning saying it failed some authentication, now the Device Manager shows the monitor correctly as A181HL but I still dont get the right resolution.

It shoud be 1366x768 but I only get 1280x720 at max.

No problem about the authentication if on Device manager is displaying correctly.

You may need to update your VGA drivers.

The Device Manager was identifying the video card correctly but and the windows update did not find any driver updates so I went to the driver section in the motherboard manufacturer website, downloaded and installed the latest graphics driver. The video card is an ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 so the AMD website was no help.

Even after that I can't choose the 1366x768 resolution, it's still stuck to a 1280x720 max.

Check if the frequency is 60hz, it's near the screen resolution

It is, that's the only option available.

Uninstall and reinstall Monitor drivers and click OK on all warnings.

    In Control Panel

    choose Display-settings-advanced

    click on Monitor Tab

check "Hide mode that this monitor cannot display"

    Click Apply

    Now select Adapter Tab

Click "List all modes" and select the correct resolution and click OK.

The option under the Monitor tab is greyed out but is unchecked. When I got to the adapter tab and clicked "list all modes" it shows a lot of options but no resolution greater than 1280x720.

Nothing worked! I still have this resolution that keeps bothering me since its not the native one. Small text is a pain to read.
