I have an Acer ASpire 6920G. It is starting to die on me now. New laptop time. How do I completely wipe all my personal data from the hard drive, enabling me to safely dispose of the machine please?

Thank you for your help. It is very much appreciated.

There are multiple thoughts about how to do this.

If you are donating or passing the system on to someone else, it is usually enough to restore the system to factory defaults.  All of your personal data would be gone and the system would be ready for a new person.

If you want to completely remove any traces of data on the drive and have no intention of passing the hardware to anyone else ... there are pieces of software that can "write zero" the drive and remove everything.

We are unable to recommend or support any particular piece of third party software.
