my touchpad isn't working

I have a Acer E5-511P-C98M and the touchpad stopped working. I have seen looking through other comments about this product that going into ELAN might fix the problem. Well if that fixes the problem I can't find it under Program Files. And i have also read it might be due to some Microsoft download, if that is the problem, isn't there someone who can crack the whip with Microsoft and get them to fix the problem. And is this with all companies. I had a Dell that I had to retire after 9.5 years and i have never had a problem like this. Can someone please help me fix this. They want me to send it back to get fixed.

Try pressing FN + F7 to see if the touchpad got disabled.

 

Did you load any windows updates or upgrade to 8.1?

 

Have you tried downloading and installing the latest touchpad driver from the Acer website?
