i have a v5-531p i have used it for about two months i dont like win 8 so put it away .

it has not been used for about 6 months  but when i went to start it nothing happend no lights no sound nothing on and off charge acer say its out of garantee and want £55 just to find out what is wrong with it . should i pay or would that be  just throwing good money after bad. im not happy and may just smash it up with a hammer and put it on youtube

    As you have not used the laptop for a long time, the battery may have discharged and thus, the laptop may not be booting. I recommend you to first charge the battery sufficiently (if you have not done this already) and then check if that resolves your issue.

     

    If the battery is not charging with the AC adapter, you may need to perform a power reset and then try charging the battery. To do a power reset, you can follow the steps below:
    1. Switch-off the power source and plug-off the AC adapter.
    2. Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter from the laptop.
    3. Press and hold down the power button on the laptop down for 30 seconds and then release the button.
    4. Plug in the AC adapter again, reinsert the battery, charge the battery for some time, and then power-on the laptop.
