GPU performance on w700 with i3 processor?

Hi,

i know there's been a lot of talk regarding throttling and the i5 processor, but how does the GPU paired with an i3 processor perform? I'm curious if it stays at 350 MHz or does it turbo boost? Trying to decide if I should go with an i3 model or get the i5. I will want to do some gaming - like Civ 5, Might & Magic, King's Bounty, etc - but if throttling makes an i5 model perform worse than the i3 model, maybe it makes sense to go with the i3?

    1. There is no turbo boost on i3
    2. There are two models of the i3...one with intel 4000 and one with 3000...
    3. If you want a quick solution go for the i3 with 4000 as it can perform better atm when the i5 throttles... If you feel like waiting a bit Go for the i5, When they fix the throttle ( it will eventually get fixed by acer or someone else) The i5 will outperform the i3 Smiley Happy Hope yhis helped you a bit Smiley Happy

Also the slower i3 - the one with the GPU 3000 is an older Sandy Bridge processor while the i5 and the i3's with the GPU 4000 are the newer Ivy Bridge. I think most countries - except the US - have the slower i3 - so it may also depend on where you live as to the actual difference.

Is the GPU turbo boost disabled by Acer? Intel's website seems to indicate it'll turbo up to 1.05GHz.

I'm in the US and we grab one with the intel 4000.

    Thanks!

The GPU does run up to 1.050Ghz, the issue is when the CPU desides to throttle it also brings the iGPU down (for the i5). Since there is no Turbo on the CPU side for the i3, the iGPU on the i3 might be able to run full speed.

The i3 ivy bridge is already available in parts of Asia as well as Canada.
