DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Notebook repeatedly restarts within minutes

Hi there

I have an Acer Aspire E1-E531 notebook with Windows 8 pre-installed. Last night I shut the comp down, Windows decided to update, so I let it go and went to bed as I was exhausted and didn't wait up to watch it finish. This afternoon (told you I was tired) my notebook finished the updates when I first switched it on but only a few minutes after signing onto Windows 8 I got a blue screen, your computer has encountered an error and has to restart screen with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. The cycle has repeated over and over. The comp restarts, I sign back in, it restarts again a few short minutes after. I cannot find any information as to how to start in safe mode as F8, holding down Shift & F8 and hold down CTRL & F10 doesn't work either

I'm really struggling with this as I am not unable to use this notebook. This was an Xmas present and within a matter of weeks it's already faulty. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
