Does anyone in the world know if I can install Windows 7 on my Aspire S3-391 ?

I can't seem to get anyone at Acer to just give me a direct yes or no... and the step-by-step on how to actually do it.

You can surely install Windows 7 in your Aspire S3-391. Your device is completely compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7. To know what is the difference between the 32-bit and 64-bit versions, you can refer to the following Microsoft support page:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows/32-bit-and-64-bit-windows#1TC=windows-7

To install Windows 7 on your system, you can refer to the following Microsoft support page:
(Important: Select "Windows 7" option from the drop-down menu on the top-left corner of the following webpage before going through the installation instructions. Some of the steps mentioned in the Windows 7 installation procedure may be technical in nature. We recommend you to take professional technical assistance wherever necessary.)

Hope this will resolve your issue.

  • Yes, of course you can install and run Windows7 on your S3-391.
    Acer sell/sold this model with Win7 32 and 64bit as well as Win8. (I would recommend 64bit.)

I would suggest that you determine your hardware and download the appropriate drivers before you begin your Win7 install as it makes things so much easier. You will need to identify which Bluetooth you have (Atheros or Broadcom), ASIX Lan (AX88772B or AX88772 & AX88772A), TouchPad (Elantech or Synaptics). You may also need to check your Wireless Lan hardware too (Atheros or Broadcom).

Go to the Acer download site (or the one for your area):

    http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers

    Select 'Ultra-thin > 'Aspire' > 'Aspire S3-391'
Select your chosen Win7 version (32bit or 64bit) and download all required drivers (easiest to put them on a USB drive).

If you are switching from Win8 then there are some BIOS changes that need to be made - search the forum for details.
(It is *not* necessary or desirable to change your current BIOS.)
