T690-UP925A BIOS Update Failure

I had a working T690, and made the mistake of applying the latest BIOS update. The system is now dead.

The update that I used is the latest available on the Acer support site. which I had downloaded from the ACER support site at us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers. The file is described on their site as version R01-C1, 2008/12/09, 1.1Mb, and named BIOS_R01-C1.zip

Thinking that possibly something failed in the update process, i ordered a pre-programmed BIOS replacement chip (BIOS Depot). Same result - dead system. I received a 2nd chip to try (great service!), but it too, failed identically.

It appears that the latest update is not compatible with my system.

System details:

Model No. AST690-UP925A
Mfg. Date: 3/21/2007
Motherboard: RC410-M Rev. 1.1
SNID: [edited for privacy]

These are the details for the previous - working - BIOS (before the failed update):

AMI BIOS v02.58
Core Version 08.00.12
BIOS Rev. 3.19 09/05/06

Is there somewhere that I can obtain an image of this, older, BIOS version?

Thanks!

If the BIOS update failed... and you also tried a new "bios chip" an it failed... then I have to assume your BIOS is not the ISSUE. but yes possible... did you make a Factory Restore image? If yes then do a Factory Restore..if possible! you also might open the case and locate the BIOS Battery. remove the battery and replace with a NEW BATTERY. generally the battery is not the issue. but possible... What method did you use to FLASH the BIOS... ? have you validated the PSU is still working properly? do you get any thing on the monitor? Now almost all offer you a backup image of the original BIOS when you flash the NEW Bios... if you used Windows to flash then you have to removed the HDD locate that bios with a different computer, and then remake the flash. If you used a Floppy drive the old original Bios is on the Floppy.
