W3-810 can not boot from USB

My W3-810 has problem when update .

I received a message :" Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer"

Google and then i realized i need to recovery it by DVD

But i don't have USB DVD Rom so that i format my 4gb USB with Windows8.1 ISO by Refus program to make UEFI bootable USB .

But when i plugged my usb into the tablet, in BIOS mode, Boot settings, i can't see the name of this usb, it just "USB HDD: " " .

Anyone can help ? i don't have enough money to buy USB DVD rom so don't answer with that.

Can i borrow a 16gb USB to copy from DVD recovery and boot it ?

    Good afternoon,

'USB HDD:' is the USB stick. So the UEFI recognizes the USB-stickMan Happy. You need to drag the entry to the top of the list to put it as first boot device. After you save the settings, the tablet will reboot and boot from the USB drive if it's available. Note that the boot will take some time (about 2-3 minutes).

The second thing that you have to know is that you can't recover a whole Windows installation by using the Windows 8.1 installation DVD. That ISO is only for installing Windows 8.1. If you want to recover the Acer Windows installation your tablet came with, you have to boot from the recovery media that you've received when you bought the tablet. And that is only possible if you have a external DVD drive available.

Another option you could do is copy the Acer recovery media to an ISO and put that ISO on your USB drive by using the tool Rufus. I found this while googling for that option: *click*.

Are you sure your current Windows installation doesn't work anymore? When updates fail, Windows uninstalls the installed updates that failed while configuring and reboots. After that you can try to install the updates again. Or does the tablet say while booting that it couldn't find bootable media and that you have to insert bootable media and try again?

I hope you can fix these problems so you can enjoy using your tablet as it is meant to beSmiley Tongue.

    Kind regards,

    Bas

Firsly, are you sure the USB drive is bootable? Because it should boot with those settings. Secondly, so if you turn on the tablet by pressing the power button, it boots directly into the UEFI? It isn't able to boot the installed Windows?

When i pluged the usb , the tablet freeze at that screen . I waited so long , > 10 minutes. The usb has light on , so i think this is a bootable USB . i have formated 2 usb like this - "GPT partition scheme for UEFI computer"" and all both have same result.

I advise you to use another ISO. Remember that the tablet only supports 32-bit Windows 8 editions. If another ISO also doesn't work, then I suspect there's something wrong with the tablet itself.

The photo in your last post indicates the tablet isn't able to boot from the USB drive. I can see that because the spinning circle under the Acer logo isn't there. I think there's something wrong with the ISO. Try another one.

I can't really say what your problem is. I know I loaded a fresh 8.1 install on mine via a usb thumb drive and it booted without a problem.
