Keyboard freezes

I own a desktop Acer model X3950-UR31P.  It is constantly sounding as if a USB device is getting pluged and unplugged to it and when this happens, the keyboard freezes (very frustrating)for a short while.  I have tried checking for updated drivers for onboard USB device(s) but they are all running witht he latest driver, the message says.  Any suggestion will be highly appreciated

Do you have other devices USB connected?
    Try to change USB port.

IronFly:  Thanx for your input.  Although I had tried switching the USB port connection for my ONLY USB connected device (Keyboard), I tried it again to NO success. But, you won’t believe what I discovered in the process.  While fiddling with the setup and switching the USB port, I noticed my Plastic floor mat under my office chair was worn out and had it replaced with a new one. The computer problem went away with the old floor matJ. Baffled, I had the old mat brought back, just to check. Sure enough, problem returned. Here is the unanimous consensus we have reached in this office full of self-proclaimed Tech Savvy Geeks. “Rolling my chair on this poorly composed plastic mat created a constant electricity buildup in my body which was transferred to the Computer Mother Board every time I touched the keyboard and/or the desk”. This caused the system to short out and disconnect the USB port or device (thus the crackling noise I always heard coming from my speakers every time I touched the Desk/Keyboard always followed by a USB disconnect sound). The system, of course, was able to find and re-connect the USB device after a few seconds (and the USB reconnect sound).

Good to hear it, please be aware that continuos static electricity is not a good thing for hardware.
