I visited the service centre at Kochi after purchasing the product from flipkart. The product was sealed properly. So it does mean that the product was shipped from Acer with its seal not tampered. Now the thing is that when I got the product the hard disk was locked. The service centre guy said that it was locked by the retailer and they cant help me. I paid my money and this is is ridiculous that I am denied the service by saying that you need to visit the retailer. The laptop is covered under warranty and the product is brand new. The service centre at Kochi is near mamangalam. Will surely check the name and provide you with further details. Bad service. When I searched in this community for related problems its stated to visit service centre and they have special tool to unlock it. The service centre guy said that he wont unlock Linux but what he will do is install a windows 8.1 which by itself is ridiculous as the hard disk being locked how can I even access or install OS.

    Hi,

No HDD can be locked in such a manner that it is imposible to unlock without "special tool". Every locking can be passed from windows, using widows tools, but if locked, probably loosing all of your data, but I think that you don't have any data on it so shouldn't be a problem. You may try this

Also, there are many partition manager software that you could use to wipe your HDD and start over.

Once HDD is wiped, you can install any operating system on it.

    Hope this helped.

    p.s.

    Sorry for bad english
