This may not apply to this particular article, but I have not foundanywhere else to present my problem.

I obtained an ACER AT3-600-UR33 via a lawsuit settlement. I came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed.  I need to

remove windows 8 and install Windows XP pro to be compatible with several computers at my church.

We can't afford to upgrade all our computers to windows 8.  Even if we could most of our programs wouldn't

run on windows 8.  My question is can this be done and how?

I don't know from actually trying it, but generally speaking, attempting to install a 12 year old OS on new hardware usually results in problems as I seriously doubt any of the component manufacturers (CPU, video, etc.) wrote drivers for anything older than Windows 7.

That being said, I would try to install the programs in question on the Windows 8.1 computer and have them run in 'XP Mode'. That way, Windows 8.1 runs the app as if it were installed on a Windows XP system.

    Open Windows Explorer

Navigate to the app's EXE file

    Right click it

    Select Properties

    Click Compatibility tab

Click on the Compatibilty Mode button

Select Windows XP from the pull down menu

    Select OK.

    and Bob's yer Uncle!
