Good Day

I want to update my BIOS from v2.15 to v2.21 where the bios file is available on the Acer site, and i already downloaded the file.

I noticed it is the insydeh20 bios.

Before i update the bios, i want to ask is there any way to make a backup boot flash of my current bios just for incase the bios update fails which i can then use to restore the BIOS? i read one can invoke crisis mode with the FN+ESC keys but not too sure how to do the recovery process for incase it fails.

P.S.

I did make a ROM backup of the BIOS using "Universal bios backup toolkit" and it automatically make a file called "InsydeCorp.-V2.21.rom" but i am not too fimiliar with BIOS recovery procedures and i am not sure if my ACER has dual bios wwhich it can restore itself just incase

    Hi,

Welcome to the forums, unless you want to update the BIOS for a particular reason( if you are sure that it will rectify any problems) leave it alone, your current BIOS is only 9 months old and if it's not giviving any problem don't waste your time and energy updating it, in case if it get corrupted, you could be able to recover it but it may take up your time and tiresome and with the newer BIOS you are not going to gain much.

I don't want to see you bricking your new laptop, my advice is based on my own experience but others may have different approach towards updating BIOS. Kudos for your advance preparation.
