Acer Aspire TimelineX 5820TG - Missing keystrokes when using Intel integrated graphics

Acer Aspire TimelineX 5820TG

Intel Core i5 520M

ATi Mobility Radeon 5650

4GB Memory

Occasionally when running the laptop on the Intel integrated graphics, the system does not register some keystrokes unless I type very slowly.

This problem goes away if I turn on the Radeon graphics chip, but since that uses more power it is not a great solution.

This started occuring a while ago with the laptop using the factory installed Windows 7 operating system. I recently moved the system to Windows 8.1 but the prolem still persists.

Any ideas on how to fix this? It is a frustrating issue.

    Hi kaleovil,

I would start by looking at the chipset driver probably causing the issue if it's only happening while on the integrated video. Also, updating the intel graphics driver if possible might help.

You may want to try reinstalling the OEM OS (Windows 7) to see if the proplem persists, which would indicate a possible hardware issue. If it does go away with Windows 7, it's likely a Windows 8 driver issue. Unfortunately, Acer does not provide Windows 8 drivers for this system.

    Hope this helps,
    Cory
