So i got the update from acer 2x, one update was on july 15, 2014 it stated that it was an update regarding requirements for the device to be able to update to kitkat, i was so excited, but as we know acer i had doubts that it could take another 6 months or so. Then just yesterday i was awaken from my slumber with my tab saying that an update was available, to my surprise its a system update and security update ang it was kitkat (258mb) which includes a sytem upgrade to kitkat and camera upgrade from acer. Here's the link of how its looks.. ( disregard the launcher and icons, its a customization). https://www.facebook.com/al.rx.7/posts/815861985099299

I updated to 4.2.2 yesterday, Wrong decision! Since I did it, a lot of applications started to crash, offering me appologies...This includes Google applications, such as Maps and Documents, or from other developers (for example Navigon). More than this, even stock application like Acer Life did crash. I think you should stay put for the moment and wait for a future Google update of this OS. Beside this problem, I did not noticed any speed improvements. I'd rather say on contrary, the boot time seems to be longer (but maybe this is subjective).

Before performing the update, I read a whole day about the upgrade problems, as they were told by many Samsung or LG users (it is true, for my son S4, the last update brought more stability to the smartphone). Also read about new policy included by Google regarding the access to SD card, but I considered this not to be a problem to me, as I use to keep on my SD card basically music and photos. But be noticed that if you use other application to shoot photos (such as Cymera), you will only be able to save the photos only in the internal memory (even if you choose from application settings to save on external card, it will switch back to internal). Using the stock camera app, you can save them on external card.

I do not know who's to blame for this, Google or Acer. In fact, I guess I am the one to be blamed, as I should stay on 4.2. It worked perfect till now, not even one hang. I hoped for better, but now I guess I have to try sell my tablet and get a mini Ipad...Or wait probably long time for a future (not so probable) patch.

Its Go Launcher EX Pro Premium, its one of the leading launchers in google play. As many noticed when they updated to kitkat the status bar and navigation bar did not became transparent, so everyone needed to install google now launcher or others with GNL of the same kind.

Sorry to hear that, but certainly my update to kitkat was not as bad as yours, i just noticed that my HD games got lags, but when i updated it, it became normal again so now i dont have a problem with it. I've read on other post that there is a solution to your problem, an update over an SD card, try to check it in the acer support page, just try  to find your product and download that SD Update and the Instructions to it, and hope it solves your issues.

I did reset to factory, but the applications still crushes. Maps practically cannot be used. I uninstalled the updates and works a little bit better, still...Considering these, I am very sorry I did the upgrade. Not even one gain, only ruined my tablet...

Can you check if any .zip file is present on the SD or internal storage of the A1-810?

it must be inside a folder but i can't remember the name.

how did you do the factory reset?

from android setting or using recovery?

can you try to revert to default Maps. as you did, clear Maps data/cache and install updates?

to clear only Maps data: systems/settings/applications

tap on Map and then do a clear data and clear cache

install updates and see if it Force close or crashes again

    I'm not an Acer employee.

I did the rest in both ways, pressing the power and volume buttons and from the settings menu. Same problem with the Maps application. The factory stock application (I guess it is 7.7 version) seems to work better, but as soon as I allow the upgrade to be performed, when opening the app, after several repositioning and zooms the program closes. Maybe it is a bug in app in last version, I don't know.
