Have an acer 5742z - been working great for years. All of a sudden i can't connect to wireless networks (no wireless networks even show up)

I've tried cycling FunctionF3 - the wireless symbol lights up orange color and also tried updating all the drivers for the wireless items - it works fine when plugged into a hardline lan

Any suggestions?

As you are able to connect your Acer 5742Z to internet via LAN cable, there seems to be no issue with your internet connection.

We recommend you to place your laptop near your wireless router (if you have not done this already) while the Wi-Fi network is On and see if this gives you proper connectivity. If you still face the issue, you can try to reset your router (for this, refer to the instruction manual provided by your router's manufacturer). If this too does not resolve your issue, go to the section below.

To confirm if your Wi-Fi network is working correctly, you can try connecting some other device (having Wi-Fi connectivity feature) to your Wi-Fi network and see if it works. If yes, then you may need to configure wireless settings in your laptop to get it connected to Wi-Fi network. If no, then you may need to check the Wi-Fi settings of your router.

Also, if possible, you can try connecting your laptop to some other Wi-Fi network and see if you still face the limited connectivity issue. If yes, then you may need to configure wireless settings in your laptop to get it connected to Wi-Fi network. If no, then you need to check Wi-Fi settings of your router.

To get a specific solution in either of the cases above, we request you to share with us some more details like the operating system you are using and the company name and model number of your router.
