Help with selective startup

Hi everyone!

Someone told me that I could type "msnconfig" and select selective startup to choose the things I want to begin when my computer turns on, so it will make it faster. However, I am totally clueless about computers. I am using an Aspire Laptop and I was wondering how do I know which items should remain, and which should checked off? (without making my computer worse?)

thank you,

Always give more details about the things you are using. Nobody knows what operating system you are using or what machine. You can type "msconfig" not "msnconfig". By the way: If you are using Windows 8 you can simply click with the right mouse button on the task bar at the bottom of your desktop and select Task Manager from the mouse context menu. In the Task Manager dialog there is a tab called "Autostart". There you can deactivate all programs you want.

    Hi,

I am using Windows 7 and it's an Acer Aspire laptop.

But like I said I don't want to uncheck things that might make my computer worse.
