Aspire 7552 won't boot to bios - fan running

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire 7552G-5488. When I press the power buttom, it lights-up blue and the fan turns (sometimes) but the screen remains black (NO terminal cursor, just completely black), i.e., it won't boot to BIOS. However, this only occurs SOMETIMES, other times, it turns on and loads the operating system as expected. The failure to boot is occuring with greater and greater frequency.

Note, I someone managed to flash and update the BIOS one year ago.

Thank you for your help!

    hi...

I suggest you to perfrom a power reset and check the issue.

Unplug the AC adapter from your notebook, Turn the notebook over to remove the battery. Turn the notebook back over and open it.

Hold down the power button for 30 seconds, then release the power button.
Turn the notebook back over and slide the battery back into place.
Slide the lock tab back into the lock position.
Turn over the notebook one last time and plug in your AC adapter.
    Turn on your notebook.

Hi Sharanji, thanks for the suggestion, but I tried it several times, and it did not work. The symptoms persist. Coincidently, the first time I tried your suggestions it did boot to BIOS, but after thawt the symptoms resumed Smiley Sad

    hi,

You may check by reseating the memory modues and hard disk.

Hi Sharanji, I reseated the RAM and I resdeated the Hard Drive. The symptoms persist Smiley Sad

They may be getting worse, its difficult to tell. But whereas previously, when the computer would boot successfully, it would stay on > 24 hours. Now, even successful boots may result in the computer freezing during various boot stages: once it froze during the BIOS Acer splash screen (i.e., where it asks you to hit F2 to for 'setup'); once it froze during the GRUB2 menu (a boot loader which asks you if you want to boot to Linux or Windows 7, etc); and once it froze in the normal desktop environment.

    Anyone?

    Bump,

The symptoms have persisted for a month now. The computer is not dead -- I use it everyday, but it is dying slowly.

Oddly enough, the symptoms are relieved temporarily if I remove the back panel, remove and re-place one of the RAM chips, and boot back up. Invariably, the computer will boot normally! Why would removing the back panel and playing with the RAM chips (but NOT altering their arrangment or quantity) make the computer (temporarily) boot normally? I've tried removing the battery, holding down the power-button for 30 seconds, waiting a couple minutes, and replacing battery and trying to boot, with NO effect (i.e., black screen with no boot to BIOS). So what is it about doing this same thing + removing the back panel? Is there some electrical effect of removing the back panel?

hi, I have got the same problem with Acer Aspire 5336. it comes on some days and then doesnt come on for several days. tried the removing battery, holding power button route, doesn't work. tried removing RAM and HD, makes no difference. fan comes on, blows hot air and becomes hot underneath, bios won't come on. when it does come on, it is as normal as - press the button and it is on as nothing ever happened. it all started after some water got spilled on keyboard. even had the blue screen at first, but after drying out came on as normal. would it be coming on at all if motherboard was at fault? could it be fan and cooling problems? battery?
