I have an acer aspire 5741 - 5302 that I tried to upgrade the bios on and I got a verified failed message then the computer locked up and now I am trying to upgrade the bios from usb using the instructions on the appropriate service manual but when I make the attempt I plug in the power cord and press the function escape buttons and the hard drive light on the computer and light on the USB thumb drive just blink for a long time and things don't seem to be proceeding. the screen is black just as it was after I first rebooted after the error message any ideas?

Thats what Im attempting with the usb thumb drive. I have files on it (its actually a Crisis Disk). I made it as per the instructions here.

The hard drive and thumb drive lights are flashing just as the instructions say they should, when the laptop is in BIOS recovery mode. But they have been flashing for hours. I'm sure something is wrong and that it isn't actualyl upgrading the BIOS. Should I just give it more time? Is there something I'm missing?
