overheating and dead motherboard

Brought my Acer in for a reinstall of OpSys as I never did back it up on a USB. One month later the laptop started running hot as though it was getting installations or playing at its own version of bad. Would turn itself off randomly or on randomly and get very hot. Then eventually went to a white screen. Was told to get a new motherboard which is impossible. No one has one. Any suggestions on why this happened. Was perfectly good machine for 3 years. Never used excessively. 2011 model S3.

I am sorry to hear that your S3 notebook is having a heat issue. This is usually caused by poor circulation and this leads to heat damage to your MB and components. When this happens you system can heat up faster than normal and have trouble regulating internal system temps and this causes the system to shut down to prevent harm or further damage to the system.

If you have already tried cleaning all the vents, fans and air flow pathways then yes you may need a new Mainboard/CPU. I would recommend contacting technical support in your region as they may have the parts. If they do not you may try parts partners in your region.
