windows 8 drivers for aspire xc-603

Hello all,

I'm trying to set up my Aspire xc-603 with windows 8 and am having a couple of problems:

Firstly, the Hard disk is seen in non UEFI mode, and also it appears that windows is missing drivers:

If I set the BIOS in UEFI mode the hard disk is not seen, so the machine won't boot.

Possibly related to this, When I go into the windows device manager there are several "Other devices which" are marked as "not installed".

This applies to the following devices.
* PCI Encryption/Decryption Controller

* SMBus Controller
* USB CRW.

Clicking on the "Update Driver" and searching just gives the message, that Device drivers cannot be found. I don't see any device drivers on this site, so where do I get the missing drivers??

Many thanks,

ShaunHH

    The Aspire XC-603 comes pre-installed with Windows 8 or 8.1 so I am not sure why you would have to setup Windows 8. If the system has been altered or you are having problems, I would recommend setting your BIOS settings to default, and use OEM recovery Media to get your system back to factory defaults.

    If you are still unsuccessful, please contact technical support in your region for further assistance.

    Hi Ryan,

    Thanks for your reply

    No, I bought from ebuyer.com (I'm in the UK) and it is supplied with Freedos, not Windows 8 or 8.1
    I do have a copy of Windows 8, purchased when MS introduced the first wave of discount offers (I paid 25ukp).

    Best wishes,

    shaunHH,

    Thank you for the additional information as I am only able to see models shipped here in the US and Canada. It sounds like you have the operating system installed properly but are in need of the drivers. I can only recommend visiting Acer support site and downloading the appropriate drivers for your system and installed operating system. I would recommend downloading all the provided drivers for this system to see if that resolves the bangs in your device manager.

    If you tried this already, then hopefully someone in the community can help that has had a similar experience and have a solution.
